Belgian champions Club Brugge play Benfica at the Jan Breydel Stadium in a thrilling UEFA Champions League round of 16. The home team surprised everyone by finishing second in Group B with three victories, two ties, and one loss. Club Brugge finished the group stage with 11 points, one behind FC Porto. Brugge fans were on cloud nine in the first part of the season, but a poor run in the Jupiler Pro League plummeted them to fourth place. The hosts are winless in their last 10 league matches, drawing seven and losing two. The team has drawn five of their last six matches and cannot finish the job.

Club Brugge will now face Benfica, who are having a great season. Arsenal, who are now in first place, will play host to Manchester City after gaining three points over the weekend and having a game in hand. Should City come out on top, they will reclaim their position atop the Premier League standings based on their superior goal differential. The margin between City and the Gunners at the top of the table has shrunk significantly as City has been gaining ground. On Wednesday, will there be new leaders at the top of the league?

Arsenal enters this match having not triumphed in either of their previous three matches. They were eliminated from the FA Cup in the fourth round by Manchester City, then went on to lose at Everton, and on Saturday they only managed to draw at home with Brentford. Only one goal has been scored in each of those three games, although eight goals were scored in the three games before those three. Arsenal has not yet suffered a defeat at home in any of the league’s games this season. They have won eight of their ten games at the Emirates, but the last two and three of those games were tied.Since they suffered their last defeat at home in the Premier League, they have played 13 home league matches. That match took place in April of last year in Brighton, and a goal was scored by recently acquired player Leandro Trossard for the Seagulls in that contest.

This will be Manchester City’s second trip to North London this month, and they will be looking to improve on their performance from their 1-0 setback to Tottenham on February 5. Juventus is coming off three consecutive victories between the championship and the Italian Cup, and let’s add to this the fact that they are once again back to having unbeaten goals in each of these matches. Nantes has also won the last three games played between the league and the French Cup, but the national cup victory came only after a penalty shootout.
