Manchester United’s disappointing season under Erik ten Hag took another hit on Monday night with a 4-0 thrashing by Crystal Palace – one of the heaviest defeats during the Dutchman’s tenure. Despite downplaying concerns about his future, Ten Hag acknowledged that his team is underperforming, with United heading for their lowest Premier League finish in history (eighth place).
Their 13 league defeats this season mark their highest total since 1989/90. However, United did manage to win the FA Cup that season, raising questions about Ten Hag’s future extending to the final at Wembley later this month, which could hinge on avoiding another embarrassing loss against old rivals Arsenal. Yet, a home victory for United might hand the title to Manchester City, creating a dilemma for the Old Trafford faithful.
Arsenal, on the other hand, make the trip north to Manchester as strong favorites, having enjoyed a stellar campaign under Mikel Arteta. Following a defeat to Aston Villa, the Gunners won four consecutive league matches, with three accompanied by clean sheets, keeping the pressure on defending champions Manchester City.
Despite Arsenal’s one-point lead going into the round, their fate remains uncertain, and their record at Old Trafford suggests a tough challenge ahead. Arsenal have won just one of their last 16 Premier League visits to Old Trafford since September 2006. However, their ability to score in each of the last nine encounters suggests they won’t go down without a fight.
Aston Villa vs Liverpool | Premier League

After their Europa Conference League disappointment against Olympiacos, Aston Villa aims to secure Champions League football for next season by facing Liverpool. The mood at Villa Park might be celebratory if Tottenham fail to win against Burnley before the match.
