Besides Morocco, which will be the host nation, the teams already confirmed to feature in this prestigious tournament are Egypt, Algeria, DR Congo, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Senegal, and Angola, showing their dominance in the qualifiers.  

Morocco: Dominating the Stage as Hosts

Although Morocco qualified automatically as hosts, they did not let up. They won all four games, ensuring their fine form for the tournament. The Atlas Lions have outclassed Gabon, Central African Republic, and Lesotho, with second qualification to date.   

Algeria: Securing the Top Spot in Group E

Algeria secured their spot with a 1-0 victory against Togo. Their impressive streak guaranteed their ticket to AFCON 2025. The twelve points earned have made Algeria sit comfortably on top of Group E, marking its seventh consecutive qualification for the tournament. Mathematically, it is only Equatorial Guinea that could still hope to delay Algeria’s qualification, but Algeria has already guaranteed one of the two highly sought-after tickets in their group.

Angola: Early Qualification with Dominant Performance

Angola with a first-minute goal from Zini sealed a place at the tournament with a 1-0 win against Niger. This marked their fourth-straight win and placed them at the top of Group F. There is now a five-point gap between Angola and second-placed Sudan, thereby releasing the pressure in their remaining games.

Egypt: Record Holders March Forward

The most successful team in Africa Cup of Nations history, the Egyptian national team kept the momentum going with a 1-0 win over Mauritania. This victory assures their ticket for the tournament in which Egypt extended their lead at the top of Group C. So far, the Pharaohs have achieved a hundred percent record in their qualifying matches, putting themselves on course to hunt down yet another title.

Senegal: Last-Minute Heroics by Sadio Mane

Senegal, the reigning champions, left it late for a crucial 1-0 win over Malawi with star player Sadio Mane delivering a stoppage-time free-kick. The victory sees Senegal now on 10 points as a guarantee of their place in the tournament. With two matches left, both Malawi and Burundi drop out of contention for qualification from Group L.

Burkina Faso: Sealing Their Spot in Style

Burkina Faso assured their qualification with a convincing 2-0 win against Burundi. Scorers were Mohamed Konaté and Bertrand Traoré, Konaté netting early and Traoré sealing it with a penalty late on. Burkina Faso finished on equal point with Senegal at the top of Group L, ensuring a top-two place in next year’s tournament.

DR Congo: A Perfect Run Continues

DR Congo maintained their perfect run with a 2-0 win over Tanzania. Meschack Elia scored twice to ensure their place in the tournament. DR Congo’s flawless qualification campaign continues.

Cameroon: Securing Qualification with Precision

Five-time AFCON winners Cameroon also secured their spot. A goal by Boris Enow in a narrow win over Kenya ensured their participation in the 2025 tournament.

The Road Ahead for the Remaining Teams

With 24 teams set to compete in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the remaining slots will be left for the final rounds of qualifiers in November. Those teams qualified will use this time to work on their squads, with no shortage of competition for the final teams wishing to enter the tournament.
