River Plate vs Urawa Red Diamonds: Prediction, Lineups & Betting Tips – Club World Cup 2025

River Plate vs Urawa Red Diamonds | StarBet Predictions Today

River Plate vs Urawa Red Diamonds: Prediction, Lineups & Betting Tips – Club World Cup 2025

The FIFA Club World Cup is heating up, and we’ve got a big one, River Plate vs Urawa Red Diamonds in their Group E opener at Lumen Field in Seattle. It’s set to be a packed stadium with high stakes, the kind of game fans live for. Will River Plate show their dominance, or can Urawa pull off a surprise?

River Plate vs Urawa Red Diamonds: Form Guide

River Plate is coming into this one in top form. They’ve only lost once in their last 17 games (9 wins, 7 draws), with both their attack and defense firing on all cylinders. That 6-2 thrashing of Independiente del Valle in the Copa Libertadores made people take notice. They also beat Barracas Central 3-0 at home and grabbed a gritty 3-2 away win over Barcelona SC in Ecuador. With 14 goals in their last five matches and no losses during that stretch, they’re clearly in a groove.

Urawa Red Diamonds, on the other hand, have been up and down. They’ve dropped five of their last six games and have been leaking goals. . However, they were able to defeat Yokohama FC 2-1. It’s not looking good because they’ve only won twice in the last seven games—three ties and three losses. They could be dangerous on the counter, though, as they have been scoring goals.

Predicted Lineups

River Plate (4-3-3)

Armani; Montiel, Martínez Quarta, Díaz, Acuña; Castaño, Pérez, Fernández; Mastantuono, Driussi, Colidio

Injured: Agustín Ruberto (knee)

Players to Watch:

  • Franco Mastantuono: Just 17 but already playing like a seasoned pro. He’s got 5 goals and 2 assists in his last 9 matches.
  • Facundo Colidio: Deadly when he comes on late. His sharp movement and finishing often seal games.

Urawa Red Diamonds (4-2-3-1)

Nishikawa; Ishihara, Boza, Høibråten, Ogiwara; Yasui, Gustafson; Kaneko, Watanabe, Savio; Matsuo

Injured: Kai Shibato (knee)

Players to Watch:

  • Ryōma Watanabe: He’s been reliable up front, scoring four times in his last six matches.
  • Samuel Gustafson: Holds the midfield together and starts most of Urawa’s attacking plays.

Head-to-Head

This is the first time River Plate faces Urawa Red Diamonds. However, River has played against a Japanese team in the Club World Cup before:

  • River Plate defeated Sanfrecce Hiroshima 1-0 in 2015
  • River Plate defeated Kashima Antlers 4-0 in 2018

They had a clean sheet in both of these games, and they dominated possession in both cases. Urawa has never faced a South American team in this Cup before, so it’s their first time with this experience.

Hot Stats & Trends

  • River Plate has seen both teams score in 8 of their last 10 games.
  • They’ve scored first in 6 of their last 7.
  • Urawa has just one draw in 8 Club World Cup matches (3 wins, 4 losses).
  • Four of Urawa’s last 5 games had over 2.5 goals.

Expect chances at both ends, but River should have the upper hand.

Betting Tips – Odds from StarBet

Bet on football at StarBet. You’ll enjoy great market choice and odds better than the rest.

  • River Plate to Win: 1.45
  • Draw: 4.40
  • Urawa Red Diamonds to Win: 6.50

Other bets worth a look:

  • River Plate -1 handicap: They’ve been winning big lately.
  • Over 2.5 goals: Both teams attack, and Urawa concedes a lot.
  • First Goalscorer: Mastantuono is in form and loves the spotlight.

Check StarBet’s football predictions page for live updates and more markets.

Prediction: River Plate 2–0 Urawa Red Diamonds

River should take control early and dominate the ball. Urawa might hold out for the first half-hour, but their defense probably won’t keep up. Look for Mastantuono to score first and Colidio to wrap it up late on.

Tactical Notes:

  • River will press high and try to control the tempo.
  • Urawa will likely sit back and counter, hoping Watanabe or Savio can find space—but it might not be enough.

Manchester City vs Wydad – Prediction, Lineups & Odds for Club World Cup Clash

Man City vs Wydad Casablanca | StarBet Football Preview

Manchester City vs Wydad – Prediction, Lineups & Odds for Club World Cup Clash

Manchester City vs Wydad. The heat’s on as Manchester City and Wydad Casablanca get set to face off in the Club World Cup. City, the kings of Europe, go up against Morocco’s proud fighters. It might look one-sided on paper, but football has a funny way of flipping expectations.

Two Third-Place Teams, Two Very Different Stories

Manchester City came into this tournament with something unusual—a third-place finish in the Premier League and no trophies. That’s rare under Pep Guardiola. Still, they ended their season strong, losing just once in their last 13 games and showing the same sharp edge that’s brought them so much success.

They’ve also spent big to reload, bringing in names like Tijjani Reijnders for control in midfield, Rayan Cherki for some flair, and Rayan Aït Nouri to add depth on the wings. City aren’t nursing bruises—they’re ready for battle.

As for Wydad, they also finished third—this time in the Moroccan top flight. Their domestic form looked solid late in the season, but friendlies against Porto and Sevilla showed the gap they need to close. They’ve got heart. But heart alone won’t be enough to get past a team like City.

Stats That Stand Out

  • Pep Guardiola’s won four Club World Cups—more than anyone else.
  • Wydad had the most draws (12) in Morocco’s league, showing they’re tough to break down, but sometimes lack the killer touch.
  • Four of Wydad’s last five wins were by exactly two goals—steady and methodical.

Form Check: Man City vs Wydad

Scorers: Gündogan (21’), Haaland (72’)

PSG vs Atlético Madrid: Club World Cup 2025 Prediction & Odds

PSG vs Atlético: | StarBet Predictions Today

PSG vs Atlético Madrid: Club World Cup 2025 Prediction & Odds

PSG vs Atlético. The Parisian giant faces Atlético de Madrid in the opening game of Group B at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena—home of more than 90 years of football—on June 15, 2025. It’s a battle of history, strategy, and goals met this morning over California as the sunrise sets the stage for 21.3°C.

Team Analysis

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)

The Parisian giant won last season’s UEFA Champions League and triumphed over Inter Milan in the finals, 5-0. PSG has registered 17 goals in five contests with just three goals against. PSG is a strategic team, coached by Luis Enrique, and we anticipate the following 4-3-3 formation:

  • A hard-working three-man midfield of Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, and João Neves
  • Wing backs Hakimi and Nuno Mendes stretching the pitch at all times
  • An attacking front of youth and creativity with Gonçalo Ramos, Warren Zaïre-Emery, and new acquisition Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

While Ousmane Dembélé will be out and his teammate Bradley Barcola is questionable, PSG’s deep roster will ensure danger from first whistle to last.

Atlético de Madrid

Under Diego Simeone, Atlético remain a model of strategic stoicism. Though inconsistent in patches, the Madrid side has scored 12 in their last five outings, leaning into their legacy of structured chaos:

  • A compact backline reinforced by Jan Oblak and Gimenez
  • Quick-fire transitions guided by Koke and De Paul
  • Griezmann and Julián Álvarez are the veterans and late-game magic.

Anticipate a 4-4-2 lineup, shifting to a 5-3-2 when falling back to defense, but just as quickly transforming to attack with time and space.

Head-to-Head History

PSG and Atlético faced each other in November of 2024. Atlético won, 2-1. But that was then. PSG is cohesive; the majority of the confident squad had won a continental championship in 2025. Pasadena will be the time for revenge.

PSG vs Atlético Madrid: Tactics & Formations

PSG (4-3-3)

  • Style: Possession-dominant, width-oriented, with high press
  • Strengths: Quick tempo, technical midfield transitions, full-back overloads

Atlético Madrid (4-4-2 / 5-3-2)

  • Style: Deep block defense with sharp transitional play
  • Strengths: Discipline, counter-attacking intelligence, aerial prowess

Predicted Line-ups

PSG XI: Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Nuno Mendes; João Neves, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz; Zaïre-Emery, Gonçalo Ramos, Kvaratskhelia

Atlético XI: Oblak; Molina, Le Normand, Gimenez, Javi Galan; Simeone, De Paul, Koke, Gallagher; Griezmann, Álvarez

Club World Cup 2025: New Format, Fixtures & Prize Money Breakdown

Club World Cup 2025: New Format, Fixtures & Prize Money Breakdown

Club World Cup 2025: New Format, Fixtures & Prize Money Breakdown

The Club World Cup 2025 is undergoing its most ambitious transformation yet. Reimagined and expanded, the tournament once held each winter with just seven teams will now explode onto the global calendar as a summer spectacle, boasting 32 clubs and promising a record-shattering prize fund. This summer’s edition in the United States is more than a competition; it’s FIFA’s boldest step yet in reshaping the world football landscape.

A New Format for a Global Stage

Gone is the compact December showcase. The new Club World Cup will start a quadrennial rotation—not annual, but every four years—and the first tournament will be held in 2025. The 2025 edition starts on June 15 and runs until July 13 for 29 days, with 12 venues in 11 cities across the host nation, MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ—82,500 fans expected—as the site for the final match.

Who’s In: Clubs by Continent

The 2025 Club World Cup will have 32 teams. The teams that qualified for this World Cup did so based on their placement in the corresponding continental tournaments between 2020/21-2023/24.

  • UEFA (12): Atlético Madrid, Bayern Munich, Benfica, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Juventus, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Porto, Real Madrid, Red Bull Salzburg
  • CONMEBOL (6): Boca Juniors, Botafogo FR, Flamengo, Fluminense, Palmeiras, River Plate
  • AFC (4): Al Ain, Al-Hilal, Ulsan Hyundai, Urawa Red Diamonds
  • CAF (4): Al Ahly, Esperance de Tunis, Mamelodi Sundowns, Wydad Athletic Club
  • CONCACAF (4): Los Angeles FC, Monterrey, Pachuca, Seattle Sounders FC
  • OFC (1): Auckland City
  • Host Nation (1): Inter Miami CF

The last team to join came on May 31 when Los Angeles FC beat Club América 2-1 in extra time. However, some controversy has already struck this World Cup: FIFA revealed that Club León was rescinded from the tournament due to legality issues with multi-club ownership, as Club León qualified on its own.. Pachuca maintains its position even though it is owned by the same company.

Tournament Mechanics

The pools are set, and the 32-team tournament is as follows: Eight pools (A-H) with four clubs each play one another once. The top two clubs in each pool qualify for a knockout round of 16 tournament with round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final; there is no third place play-off.. Clubs reaching the final will play up to seven matches.

The Prize Pool: Big Stakes, Bigger Payouts

FIFA will distribute approximately $1 billion among the participants. Of that, $525 million will be shared based on participation and commercial metrics. The remaining $475 million is performance-based. The champions could earn up to $125 million. Another $250 million will be distributed in solidarity payments to clubs worldwide.

Venue Line-Up

Matches will unfold across iconic and modern U.S. stadiums:

  • Rose Bowl, Pasadena (88,500)
  • MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford (82,500)
  • Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte (75,000)

New Tech, New Rules

Referees will wear body cameras for the first time, offering new broadcast angles and transparency. An enhanced offside detection system will also be used to support decision-making.

Mini Transfer Window Ahead of Tournament

To accommodate squad updates, FIFA will allow a special transfer window from June 1 to June 10. All Premier League and EFL clubs can participate. The regular summer window resumes June 16.

Player Workload and Backlash

Criticism is mounting. Player unions and league associations argue the tournament adds to already overloaded schedules. But not everyone is thrilled about the tight turnaround; Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Alisson, and Son Heung-min are on record. “I think we have to respect the health of the players,” said Mbappe.

De Bruyne added, “If I get injured in the Club World Cup, what am I going to do? Nobody’s going to take care of me.”

Some top players could hit 85 matches in a single year. The toll on their physical and mental health is raising alarms. FIFA, however, maintains the expansion is key to growing global interest. The European Club Association supports the move, citing commercial opportunity.

These new categories echo the evolution of football, where simple athletic talent and past championships matter more than ever, as do managerial qualities and presence on and off the field.

Ballon d’Or 2025: Men’s Contenders

The men’s competition is not a two-horse race either; there is plenty of competition based on club and international success within the last year.

Ousmane Dembélé (PSG)

  • Trophies: Champions League, Ligue 1, Coupe de France
  • A standout performer in PSG’s long-awaited European victory. Scored in the semi-final, assisted in the final, and led from the front.

Lamine Yamal (Barcelona)

  • Trophies: La Liga, Copa del Rey
  • A teenage sensation who stunned France in the Nations League semi-finals. Favorite for the Kopa Trophy, but his Ballon d’Or case is real.

Vitinha (PSG)

  • Trophies: Champions League, Ligue 1, Nations League
  • Often overlooked, but vital for both PSG and Portugal. His consistency could surprise voters.

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

  • Trophy: Premier League winner
  • Less visible in Europe, but still one of the world’s top forwards.

Raphinha (Barcelona)

  • Trophies: La Liga, Copa del Rey, Supercopa
  • Key contributor to Barcelona’s domestic treble. Lack of Champions League play may hurt his chances.

Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid)

  • Trophies: La Liga, possible Club World Cup
  • Moved to Madrid for legacy-defining wins. Numbers are strong, but team success hasn’t peaked.

Other Notables

  • Achraf Hakimi, Desire Doue, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia: All influential in PSG’s run.
  • Gianluigi Donnarumma: Could become the first goalkeeper since Lev Yashin in 1963 to win the main prize.

Ballon d’Or 2025: Women’s Contenders

Aitana Bonmatí is still reigning supreme, but with the new women’s categories, some up-and-coming talents can easily overthrow.

Aitana Bonmatí (Barcelona)

  • She’s the current Ballon d’Or holder and won’t stop any time soon. A force in La Liga and Champions League.

Marie-Antoinette Katoto (PSG)

  • Spearheaded PSG’s resurgence. Her goals and leadership have reshaped the team’s fortunes.

Frida Maanum (Arsenal)

  • One of the Women’s Super League’s breakout stars. Combines vision with a powerful midfield presence.

Rising Stars to Watch

  • Linda Caicedo – Electric on the wing, a major contender for the Women’s Kopa Trophy.
  • Melchie Dumornay – Technically gifted and tactically mature.
  • Mary Earps – One of the world’s top goalkeepers, now in contention thanks to the new Yashin Trophy for women.

Managerial & Club Honors

Johan Cruyff Trophy: Coach of the Year

  • Hansi Flick (Barcelona): Restored structure and identity to Barça.
  • Luis Enrique (PSG): Tactical mastermind behind PSG’s European conquest.

Socrates Award: Social Impact

Finalists haven’t been confirmed, but names like Juan Mata and Marcus Rashford are likely in the mix due to their sustained humanitarian work.

Club of the Year Favorites

  • Men: PSG – Dominant across all fronts, including their long-awaited Champions League win.
  • Women: Barcelona – Still the gold standard in Europe.

How the Ballon d’Or Is Decided

A panel of 100 international journalists cast votes based on three criteria:

  1. Individual and team performance during the year
  2. Talent and fair play
  3. Career achievements (when relevant)

Votes are submitted privately, with winners announced live during the gala.

Who Will Lift the Ballon d’Or in 2025?

This year’s expanded Ballon d’Or ceremony does more than reward the season’s best. It reflects where the sport is headed. 2025 is a transitional year with women getting their recognition this year and young superstars establishing themselves. This season also shows the impact of teamwork.

Will it be Dembélé, Aitana, or a dark horse? The 2025 Ballon d’Or has nothing to do with those already established and carved in stone history; it has everything to do with who can be a champion in the future.

FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Top 10 Players to Watch

FIFA Club World Cup 2025: 10 Players Who Could Own the Tournament

FIFA Club World Cup 2025: Top 10 Players to Watch

When Inter Miami step onto the pitch at Hard Rock Stadium this Saturday to face Egyptian giants Al Ahly, they won’t just kick off the first match. They’ll open a new chapter for Major League Soccer and the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. For the first time, this expanded monthlong tournament will unfold on U.S. soil, offering more than just football—it’s a global spotlight for talent, pride, and ambition.

From legends nearing their final curtain to rising stars ready to seize the spotlight, these ten players are set to shape the narrative of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

  1. Lionel Messi (Inter Miami)

In a country where football still fights for cultural space, Messi has become both a beacon and a movement. Now 37, and set to turn 38 during the tournament, he leads Inter Miami’s historic debut at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 with a wave of support behind him.

Since his arrival in 2023, Messi has elevated the club to contenders. His 23 goals and 13 assists in his first full season powered Inter Miami to its first MLS Supporters’ Shield in 2024. He has already bagged 15 goals this season in 20 matches. Expect magic—because he hasn’t stopped delivering.

  1. Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid)

If Messi reflects the past and present, Mbappé represents the future. After his 2024 move to Real Madrid, the Frenchman made headlines worldwide—and he backed it up.

With 43 goals in 56 appearances, he shattered club debut-season records. He claimed La Liga’s Golden Boot with 31 goals and lifted the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Intercontinental Cup. At 26, Mbappé isn’t just chasing trophies—he’s crafting a legacy.

  1. Vinícius Jr (Real Madrid)

Sharing the front line with Mbappé, Vinícius Jr continues to shine. Once seen as a gamble at age 17, he’s now one of the world’s top attacking threats.

It makes sense that a Ballon d’Or runner-up is also considered one of the top talents in the world.

He’s got the stats to back it up: 21 goals and 15 assists in the 2024-25 season. His speed, dribbling ability, and vision make him a defender’s worst nightmare as no one can certainly mark him.

Real will depend on him for much during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

  1. Harry Kane (Bayern Munich)

Harry Kane has finally found silverware in Germany. He led his German side to another Bundesliga championship after his second season with Bayern Munich, scoring 26 goals in the German top flight.

He is also the first to top the Bundesliga scoring charts in his first two seasons. He’s a leader and poacher who’ll be key if Bayern hopes to secure a third Club World Cup title.

  1. Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

Haaland called last season “horrific,” even though he scored 31 goals in 44 matches. That tells you all you need to know about his standards.

He needs to get his team back into place after his squad was unable to win its fifth straight Premier League title last season. Look for him to be furious and driven for 2025 as well, since he didn’t get to participate in the 2023 Club World Cup due to injury.

  1. Ousmane Dembélé (Paris Saint-Germain)

Ousmane Dembélé has one of the best comeback stories this season with PSG as he’s bounced around his career before finally landing in Paris. The French winger mapped out 21 goals in 29 appearances in Ligue 1 and was awarded Ligue 1 Player of the Season and one of the best contributors to PSG’s Champions League victory.

With a domestic treble in the bag, PSG now eye a fifth trophy—and Dembélé will be crucial to that pursuit.

  1. Estêvão (Palmeiras)

Only 18 years old, Endrick Estêvão is the next big thing from Brazil. He had 13 goals and 9 assists in 2024 while Palmeiras secured second place in Serie A.

Chelsea already snapped him up for $75 million, but he’ll finish out the year with Palmeiras—including this tournament. Left-footed and fearless, he’s one of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 wildcards to watch.

  1. Salomón Rondón (Pachuca)

He’s not a name known worldwide at the age of 35. But don’t let the age statistics deceive you. He scored 10 goals and 3 assists during the 2024-25 Liga MX Clausura season, helping get Pachuca in the Intercontinental Cup Championship; since his midseason transfer in January 2024, he has 36 goals in 67 matches. He’s Pachuca’s emotional anchor—and still a threat in the box.

  1. Miguel Borja (River Plate)

Borja brings power and poise to River Plate’s Club World Cup debut. With 11 goals in the 2024 Liga Profesional, he’s their top finisher.

At 32, Borja has over 100 appearances and 60 goals for the Buenos Aires club. He’s proven in big moments—and River will need every ounce of that experience.

  1. Jhon Arias (Fluminense)

Flair meets versatility in Jhon Arias. He was vital in Fluminense’s journey to the 2023 Copa Libertadores, and he won the Bronze Ball in last year’s Club World Cup. He scored 14 goals across 51 matches this season.

These ten are more than just players of the FIFA Club World Cup. These ten are representations of the opportunity to play, of the purpose, pride that comes with being a world-class champion. The FIFA Club World Cup of 2025 means more.
