Chelsea vs Liverpool | Premier League

In the late match of the Premier League, we will face a clash between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. The two cavaliers of the English championship are far from playing the leading roles this season. Chelsea is only in 11th place in the Premier League and remains particularly weak after a defeat against Aston Villa (0-2). For its part, Liverpool is in 8th place in the Premier League. The Reds have yet to say their final word in the Champions League race, however. They will, however, have to relaunch themselves.

Second match of the season for Tuchel on the Bayern Munich bench. The coach returned to Germany in place of Nagelsmann and immediately won the Super Challenge with Borussia Dortmund 4-2 to retake the lead in the table. The next appointment will be the quarterfinals of the German Cup against Freiburg on Tuesday, April. The Bavarians beat Mainz 4-0, Augsburg 5-2, and Viktoria Koln 5-0 in this competition. Freiburg instead defeated Sadhausen 2-0, St. Pauli 2-1, and Kaiserslautern 2-1. The visitors are in trouble; in fact, they have won only one of their last seven games.

16 days have passed since the last time Juventus and Inter played each other in the league. This time it will be played in Turin, at the Allianz Stadium, on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, and the match will be valid as the semi-final first leg of the Coppa Italia. The Bianconeri won their fifth consecutive league and cup match by beating Hellas Verona 1-0 last Saturday, while the Nerazzurri suffered their third knockout in four games in a 0-1 home loss against Fiorentina. As mentioned, the two teams met recently: it was March 19, the last match before the break, and Juventus won 0-1 at the Meazza with a goal from Filip Kostic.

Juventus have won twice out of two matches this season against Inter and have never conceded a goal. The Bianconeri are returning from 5 straight victories between the championship and the cups, and in 4 of these matches they have not conceded a goal. There is an Inter team in a bit of a crisis, however, given that they have lost their last 3 straight games in the league and in between they found an equalizer in the Champions League in Porto. Furthermore, in the last 3 games between the championship and the cup, Inzaghi’s team has failed to score.

Real Madrid, which is in second place in the Spanish championship, will play at Camp Nou on Wednesday, April 5, for the return of the Copa del Rey. Barcelona is in first place in the Spanish championship. After being beaten at home in the first leg (0-1), the Madrid club must overcome this handicap by one goal in Catalonia to hope to qualify for the final. Southampton vs Manchester City | Premier League

Important match for Manchester City. They are still trying to catch up to leaders Arsenal and hope to close the gap (now eight points, but the Gunners have played one more game) before the second direct match on April 26 at the Etihad. The Citizens’ next opponent will be Southampton, at the bottom of the table, with just as much, if not more, of a desperate need to score points to chase safety, which is getting quite complicated, both considering that the Saints have one game more than all the other contenders and in view of some recent successes of the rivals (for example, the three points scored by Bournemouth against Fulham).

The huge gap in the standings and technically between the two teams and City’s latest brilliant performance against Liverpool (4-1) could suggest a one-sided match, which certainly has the chance to be successful but which has to deal with two alarm bells that shouldn’t be underestimated. The first is the direct clash played in the League Cup, which, right at St. Mary’s, saw City surprisingly lose 2-0 and exit the competition. The second is Southampton’s recent performance against the big teams. Surprisingly, the Saints haven’t lost any of their recent games against Tottenham, Manchester United, and Chelsea. This shows that Ruben’s boys, especially Selles, who took over from Jones two months ago after his success at Stamford Bridge, can make up for the difference in quality. It will be interesting to see if Southampton will be able to stop City in the championship, even though their last three games against Liverpool, Burnley, and Leipzig were all dominated by City. It would be a double surprise that would make two sets of red and white fans happy: those at home, but also, or almost as much, those at Arsenal, a very interested spectator and co-protagonist of the exciting head-to-head for both teams.

Real Madrid vs Villarreal | La Liga

Capable of turning the tide of the Cup semi-final by winning away against Barcelona, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid return to tread the beloved Santiago Bernabeu lawn for the home match of the 28th round of the championship against Villarreal, scheduled for Saturday, April 8, 2023. Real, as mentioned, returned from 0-4 at the Camp Nou in response to a 0-1 home record, but in the league, the 12-point gap seems to leave little room for hope for the merengues. However, Madrid is back from its home success in the previous round against Valladolid (6-0). Villarreal are 15 points behind Madrid, and in their last game, they beat Real Sociedad 2-0 at home. Real will miss Mendy, while Gerard Moreno, Capoue, and Coquelin will be absent from Villarreal.

Lazio vs Juventus | Serie A

Lazio, second in the standings, hosts Juventus, seventh, in the big match of the twenty-ninth day of the Serie A championship. The Biancocelesti have passed all of their rivals and are now five points ahead of fifth-placed Roma. This gives them a good lead in the race to get into the next Champions League. Despite the minus-15 in the standings, Juventus are also dreaming of qualifying for the next Champions League and are making a comeback. Allegri, in fact, has 44 points, six fewer than Inter, and can hope to get back in the game. The stakes are very high for both teams; for Lazio, a victory could stretch; for Juventus, only with a success can we hope to remain hooked to the train.

Lazio is back from two straight league wins, 2-0 with Monza and 1-0 in the derby with Roma, both useful to forget the exit from the Conference League scene with a double defeat against AZ Alkmaar. Big match in the Premier League on Sunday, April 9 between Liverpool and Arsenal. The hosts are in full crisis, and there are those who whisper that Klopp could even be sacked in the event of new defeats between now and the end. The Reds are eighth, seven points from the positions that are worth Europe, and ten from fourth place. Instead, Arsenal is flying, aiming for yet another victory of the season at Anfield to race towards the title; the gunners have 72 points, eight more than Manchester City, which however has one game to recover.

A very difficult period for Liverpool, who drew in their last game with Chelsea, but before that they had lost three games in a row (4-1 to Manchester City and 1-0 to Real Madrid and Bournemouth). Arsenal, on the other hand, seems to have survived their elimination in the Europa League unscathed. The championship is the real goal of the season, and the gunners in the Premier League are almost never wrong: 7 consecutive victories, of which the last two were 4-1 with Leeds and Crystal Palace.
