Newcastle United vs Liverpool | Premier League

On Saturday, February 18, in the Premier League, perhaps the biggest surprise of the league, Newcastle, and one of the most important disappointments, Liverpool, will challenge each other. The Magpies are fourth in the standings with 41 points, two more than Tottenham but with one match to recover, and are aiming straight towards qualifying for the next Champions League. Newcastle will field their best team, while the situation at Liverpool, which is ninth in the standings with 32 points, could see a large turnover in view of the Champions League super match with Real Madrid.

Newcastle have three draws in a row against Crystal Palace, West Ham, and Bournemouth and have only lost once in the league, in the first leg against Liverpool. The Reds returned to success with Everton after four games without a win in a row in the Premier League.

The 24th round match against Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City is scheduled for Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Old Trafford.

In the league, United are unbeaten in 3 games with 2 wins and 1 draw, and in their last meeting, they defeated Leeds United 0-2. Barcelona, the La Liga leader, hosts Cádiz in the final game of the Sunday soccer day. The undisputed leader of the competition comes to this match after achieving a great and hard-fought victory against Villarreal, keeping Xavi Hernández’s team in first place with 56 points, far behind its main rival, Real Madrid. Thus, Barcelona has gone seventeen consecutive games without defeat, which means that the team has regained confidence and continues, with a great rhythm, towards the conquest of the league title.

Cádiz, as well as its rival, will visit the Camp Nou after achieving a victory against Girona at home by two goals to nil. This means that Sergio González’s men leave the relegation zone momentarily and are placed in sixteenth place with 22 points, just two above Valencia, the team that marks the red zone of the table. We will see what game the coach plans against a Barcelona team that, despite Dembélé’s loss, has one of the best offensive arsenals in Europe.
